Daily Chronicle, DeKalb, DeKalb Co., ILL. 26 Jul 1910 page 1. Early this
afternoon at 704 North Twelfth street occurred the death of Byron
Houghton, a well known resident of this city. Mr. Houghton has been
confined to his bed almost the entire time for seven months and his
illness has been very serious from the beginning. His relatives and
friends have known for the past week that his death must come very soon
and the news was not unexpected this afternoon. Mr. Houghton
was born in DeKalb on August 20th 1861 and nearly all of his life has been
spent here. He received his education in the public schools and until
within the last year or so was a barber. Nearly two years of Mr.
Houghton's life were spent in Evanstown but he returned to DeKalb to work
at his trade. Mr. Houghton has hundreds of friends in the city
and he was respected and well liked. He was a member of the Modern Woodman
of America. Besides his brother Al., Mr. Houghton leaves two sisters, Mrs
J. V. Mennis and Mrs. Emma Cornwall.
*27 July 1910 - Services for the late Byron Houghton will be held tomorrow
afternoon from the residence at 704 North Twelfth street at 2:30
o'clock.

burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery. Among those present from out of town
were: Misses Della and Mildred Houghton of Chicago Heights; Mrs. Hodson of
Evanston and Mrs. Meade Dutt of Chicago.
