Texas Cemeteries:
Brad, TX Cemetery

The Brad Cemetery is sometimes referred to as Ioni Cemetery, as it is located a couple miles east of Brad near the Ioni Creek.  It has long been where the most of the early descendents of Franklin and Oscar and immediate relatives are buried. It has several graves in it and most are early settlers and their direct descendents. However, some down line descendents have been buried there as well. It is a quite peaceful place with some cedar trees.  It is now on the Texas Historical Marker Location List. There is some room left in the cemetery and land has been donated adjacent to it for expansion.  Lots are now required to be purchased.  It was free until just a fee years ago.  Regular grounds maintenance is scheduled and cemetery work days are also held and private maintenance is encouraged.  It is located about half way between Mineral Ells and Breckenridge TX. More specifically between Brad and Palo Pinto about 2 miles west of the HWY 16 Junction on HWY 180. Note: Most of the Houghton Family is located in line directly behind right gate column and below the tree in the background.

Franklin Houghton & wife Martha and some of their children as well as Oscar C. & first wife Theodosia and some children are buried here. There are other relatives buried here as well.
