Graduated 1933 from Woodward High School (Woodward IA.)
* After Dick graduated from high school, he worked at Woodward Auto
Company.
* He was drafted into the Army Air Corps in June of 1942, he served as an
aircraft electrician in North Africa and France.
* In October of 1945, after honorable discharge following WWII, Dick and
his friend Elwin Darling purchased Woodward Auto Company. They operated
the garage as Woodward Motor Company for 32 years, Dick retired in 1978.
* Dick was a member of the American Legion for 56 years and served as
a volunteer fireman in Woodward.
* Dick was known as a man that could fix anything. He enjoyed fixing
lawnmowers, bikes, washing machines, and other appliances for family and
friends. |
